20 years of Biopartenaire

The success story of the non-profit association Biopartenaire began in 2002, and its goal has remained the same to this day: to offer consumers in France a brand that strengthens fair trade through direct partnerships.

The Biopartenaire association was founded twenty years ago by pioneers of the French organic sector. Today, the label has more than 60 members, who are committed to fair trade in France.

Helping to shape the French market
Biopartenaire not only includes producers and importers but also processors and the professional association of French organic shops. PRONATEC has been a member for over ten years and Bea Dietrich, international sales executive and head of the Chocolate & Coatings department, has been on the Board of Directors since 2012. She values this exchange very much: "Being part of Biopartenaire is hugely valuable for us. It means we can play an active role in shaping the market and thus have a much deeper understanding of the French organic and fair trade market and what is really important for consumers there."

Shared values
We are linked to Biopartenaire by the values we share, as well as by our long and friendly cooperation: The association’s core concerns include, for example, fair pay, socially and environmentally responsible employment conditions and support for sustainable projects. What makes Biopartenaire unique are its strong partnerships and its direct connection between consumers as well as producers and cooperatives. These are PRONATEC’s values, too. We are convinced that full traceability back to the countries of origin is becoming increasingly important for consumers.

In 2010, PRONATEC launched the first Biopartenaire-validated Fair for Life sugar from our long-standing smallholder cooperative ASOCACE in Paraguay. Today, in addition to sugar, our range also includes semi-finished cocoa products, chocolates and coatings as well as bake-proof chocolate drops with the Biopartenaire label.
