Organic Bourbon vanilla at last year’s prices

Working closely with our Madagascan partner PREMIUM SPICES, we have inspected the latest crop and expect another good harvest this year, so that we will be able to offer stable market prices similar to those last year.

Visual inspection of the harvest by our experienced local vanilla specialists suggests that the quality is good. The green pods that we bought directly from the farmers are now mostly fully fermented and are undergoing the complex finishing processes at PREMIUM SPICES’ main processing centre in Mananara.

Grown opposite the Masoala peninsula

The area where our subsidiary PREMIUM SPICES grows vanilla is in north-east Madagascar, on Antongila Bay, opposite the Masoala peninsula. In this area around the village of Mananara, three certified small-farmer cooperatives cultivate the coveted vanilla pods, which start off green and are then purchased by PREMIUM SPICES and fermented by them. After a total of six to eight weeks of meticulous care and processing, the finished product emerges: our organic vanilla with its typical rounded yet complex Bourbon aroma.

Because the purchasing and processing of all our organic vanilla is handled by PREMIUM SPICES, we can guarantee our customers end-to-end traceability in relation to the pods, and an end product of the highest Bourbon quality. It means that we can promise our customers not only that the raw material was in impeccable condition but also that the product meets the most stringent standards for sustainability and fair trade.

Shipping overseas remains challenging

Our purchasing processes have continued to be greatly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic this year and by the associated global challenges of overseas logistics. However, thanks to our many years of experience and with the help of an extensive network of logistics partners, we will still be able to guarantee you a high degree of supply reliability in the year to come.
