Congratulations to El Quinacho on the 50th anniversary! Since 2004 the cocoa cooperative has been a very important and reliable supplier of organic and Fairtrade certified cocoa beans to PRONATEC. Because of the pandemic our cocoa buyer Lorenz Huber could only participate in the anniversary celebrations in a videoconference. As part of the celebrations El Quinacho inaugurated a brand-new, small factory, so that they can roast and grind their cocoa beans and produce chocolate. Selling their own chocolate is an additional and welcome source of income for the members of the cooperative. The facilities were paid by Devida (Devida Comisión Nacional para el Desarrollo y Vida sin Drogas). This governing agency supports well-directed new projects in Peru to fight drug trafficking.
