First report including data on PRONATEC Swiss Cocoa Production

Our organic cocoa processing plant, PRONATEC Swiss Cocoa Production, which was opened in 2022, has given us even more control with regard to this. The most recent Sustainability Report highlights initial successes, such as the reduction of pesticide residue cases and the use of more environmentally-friendly delivery formats (liquid bulk deliveries) for cocoa mass and cocoa butter. At the same time, the report also highlights potential for future improvements.

A higher proportion of organic certified products

Our Sustainability Report shows that currently, more than 90% of our products are certified organic. Around half of these are also sold with a Fairtrade certificate. We continue to pursue the goal of increasing the proportion of products from certified fair trade.

«Our 2024 Sustainability Report shows that ‘fair washing’ remains a serious issue in the food industry. Our goal of selling more Fairtrade certified products can only be achieved by working together with our customers and consumers. We remain committed to this!»

EU Deforestation Regulation: a new key issue

PRONATEC has always made every effort not to purchase any raw materials that directly or indirectly cause deforestation. Instead, we support the conversion of degraded grazing areas into agroforestry areas, for example for cocoa production. In view of the entry into force of the EU Regulation on deforestation-free supply chains (EUDR), this goal has become even more pressing, and the documentation requirements have become more stringent. Our Sustainability Report shows which measures PRONATEC is taking in order to comply with the regulation. Please note: you can find current customer information on the processes and responsibilities relating to the EUDR here.
