Stronger together: our memberships and engagement

PRONATEC is committed to a sustainable food industry and to social justice right along the supply chain. We engage with a wide range of different organisations to promote sustainable, fair and future-oriented trade.

Organic farming and fair trade are in our DNA. As a family-run company with a long tradition of trading fairly and processing and producing high-quality foodstuffs, we strive consistently for environmental responsibility, social justice and transparent trading structures. Our membership of the following organisations underlines our commitment:

We are members of these organisations

PRONATEC is a founder member of the Swiss Platform for Sustainable Cocoa (SWISSCO), a Swiss multi-stakeholder initiative to promote sustainability in the cocoa sector. We are also a founder member of the organic trade associations IG Bio/SwissORGANICS and OPTA.

Swiss platform for sustainable cocoa

We are licensed by Bio Suisse, Demeter Schweiz, Naturland and the Max Havelaar Foundation Switzerland, which demonstrates our commitment to the highest organic and fair trade standards. Since 2024 we have been offering numerous products with the new Regenerative Organic Certified® (ROC) label.

PRONATEC is a long-standing member of the not-for-profit French association Biopartenaire, which is committed to socially responsible, certified organic food production and to creating a direct link between consumers and producers.

Biopartenaire

We are also a member of the Organic Products working group of the Waren-Vereins der Hamburger Börse, enabling us to play an active role in promoting the interests of the organic sector, as we also do in the German Fachverband der Gewürzindustrie e. V. As members of Réserve Suisse we are committed to ensuring security of supply for the Swiss population and we contribute to compulsory storage facilities for sugar.

We support these organisations

We work closely, or on a project-specific basis, with a great many partners. We share the same important objectives: By co-financing the development of abunda+ , we supported work on innovative software which allows cocoa farmers’ plots of land to be georeferenced in compliance with the EU Deforestation Regulation and helps with digitalising the internal control system (ICS).

Abunda

We regularly provide case studies and data for scientific studies. From time to time, we help students to formulate interesting questions for their dissertations – mainly in collaboration with the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) and the Research Institute for Organic Agriculture (FIBL).
